wz.29 Thoughts

Picked this up an auction recently. To be honest I'm not very knowledgeable on these. Have wanted one for awhile and seem hard to find. Assuming re-arsenal in 1952? Came with bayonet as well. No import marking that ive seen. Have not taken gun completely apart. If there is something you would like to see, please let me know.

take a nice upright photo of that stock marking.. I highly doubt this was redone for 1952. looks all correct and not renumbered from 1935

That marking on the stock is not Polish and probably was added later together with the burned character by whomever used that rifle.
Despite rough condition it is hard to find them with matching bolt, which is correct.
Number on bayonet grips was added later and scabbard is not polish.

MGG, are there any stock stamps on the semi-pistol grip of the stock? Typically there would be a Polish eagle stamp in that location.

Despite how rough it looks, I think some very fine bronze wool, oil, and elbow grease will help clean it up some.

No stamps that I see anywhere on the wood.... I take this back. Looks like there is a faint mark.

The bayonet is a correct Wz.29 but was by someone serialed to rifle on grip, i assume the origin serial should be on right side of crossguard.

@Missourigunguy - There do seem to be some numbers above the FB Radom. Can you make them out?

I’m kind of itching for a wz.29 or Polish K98a myself…

Hard to make out original numbers on bayonet. Ive been on the lookout for a wz.29. Even in its rougher condition i'm still pleased to have one in my collection now.

I honestly like "Ugly Ducklings" like this. Nice and legit example of a rare rifle. Not mint but "it is what is what is" and you can always hoard or upgrade later. I always like to be the "one with one" versus the "one without one" and pretender.
Congrats.

Did you sell your rifle to Legacy?

Did you sell your rifle to Legacy?

I did not. Took it to trade at the Wannenmacher gun show in Tulsa and ended up selling it. Not nearly as much as it is now.
