WW2 German Walther PP Pistol 3rd Variation RSHA SS Contract Magazine SN 193912P - SEEKING OWNER

I recently acquired what I believe to be a magazine from a 3rd Variation RHSA / SS Contract Walther PP pistol. The serial number is stamped on the spine, "193912P." A "1" is stamped directly underneath, I believe that indicates this magazine being the first of two that were issued with the pistol. The magazine is very clean and only shows mild signs of handling. I have made no attempt to disassemble it and I can note what appears to be grease through the witness holes. The serial number is of particular interest as it appears to be the last PP produced with a "Crown Over N" proof stamp. The change from "Crown" to "Eagle" took place in mid 1940.

I have been made aware that the pistol has survived and could possibly be located in Germany. While it is a fascinating magazine that I would be happy to add to my collection, I feel it is a part of my "due diligence" as a collector to attempt to locate the owner of the PP. Reuniting this pair after nearly 80 years would be a very satisfying experience, and a great story too. If the owner of this pistol is a forum member, or if a forum member knows the owner, please feel free to send me a private message.

Tom from Legacy Collectibles has a list of these and owners. I was able to locate a matching magazine for my K under ppk not too long ago from his list. Have you looked that number up in his book? It might be listed in there

The gun is listed in his book. I would reach out to him and see if he knows who has it. I can give you his email address.

One day I hope to be as lucky as bmwr12 or who ever owns that pistol if they are found to get a matching magazine for my 2 RSHA PPK.

BMW - Thank you for your kind response. I did contact Tom about the magazine and he was the one who told me the pistol might be in Germany. He indicated the owner had made contact to add his serial number to the database in the book. I was very curious and wanted to ask for more information but did not want to overstep my bounds.

I also really appreciate you sharing the page the serial number falls on. Interesting the pistol is listed as "Commercial;" would this suggest it was taken out of commercial production and used to fulfill the RHSA / SS contract?

It probably has a crown N instead of eagle N proofs

By law, the proof change from crown N to eagle N was to start in early January 1940.

Kind of confusing why Tom listed several pistols on the RSHA list as commercials. All of pistols listed are commercially proofed and if they display the characteristic of RSHA purchased pistols, a serial numbered slide, then they were RSHA purchases.

Can anyone recommend the book or a good book for the Walther PP’s?
The book used is Tom Whitemans SS Contract Book and then also the Red and black books but these cover RSHA/SS pp/ppk and not the walthers overall.

This is also a really good book with lots and lots of phtographs. It also contains date ranges and various contracts. It does not focus strictly on SS guns which is a plus. It also covers post-war, police, engraved and purpose made guns as well as holsters. Over 450 pages if you can find one.
