I recently acquired what I believe to be a magazine from a 3rd Variation RHSA / SS Contract Walther PP pistol. The serial number is stamped on the spine, "193912P." A "1" is stamped directly underneath, I believe that indicates this magazine being the first of two that were issued with the pistol. The magazine is very clean and only shows mild signs of handling. I have made no attempt to disassemble it and I can note what appears to be grease through the witness holes. The serial number is of particular interest as it appears to be the last PP produced with a "Crown Over N" proof stamp. The change from "Crown" to "Eagle" took place in mid 1940.
I have been made aware that the pistol has survived and could possibly be located in Germany. While it is a fascinating magazine that I would be happy to add to my collection, I feel it is a part of my "due diligence" as a collector to attempt to locate the owner of the PP. Reuniting this pair after nearly 80 years would be a very satisfying experience, and a great story too. If the owner of this pistol is a forum member, or if a forum member knows the owner, please feel free to send me a private message.
