WW1 M71/84 Sawback Bavarian Bayonet

My grandfather fought in WW2 and like many vets brought back several war trophies. One of the trophies he brought back was this WW1 Bavarian, M 71/84 bayonet.

I have no idea were he got it or the story behind it, but when he passed my father gave all his trophies to me. My dad knows my love of history and that I would do my best to figure it's story.

I know the last number is the rack number, but beyond that I have no idea what the markings mean, so I figured I would let the experts decipher.

It is definitely a fascinating piece of history.

Converted to a dress configuration but an extremely scarce bayonet and unit marked and matched to boot!
Unit is "Bayerisches Regiment Nr. 7, 13.Batterie, Waffe Nr. 240

Bavarian 7th Regiment, 13th company, weapon 240.
Fascinating. I wonder how he got a pre WW1 bayonet while fighting with the 29 th ID in WW2?

I appreciate your help on identifying this.

Strange is here the scabbard was not nickeled, like mentioned by Bruce, the piece was converted to dress one most real even prior WW1, the US Gi captured in Germany even 19.century items, or buyed post 1945 when stationed in Germany. The unit is 7.Bayrisches Inf.Regiment 13.Companie, waffe nr.240.

I wish there wasn't so much information missing. It is all extremely fascinating for sure.
