S/42 1939 Luftwaffe. Totally matching. Everything even the front sight blade.
but sporterized. Forend was cut back too much To consider a duffle bag cut repair.
What is the best alternative?20220606_181012_copy_2448x1377~2.jpg20220606_183621_copy_1468x2610.jpg20220606_183337_copy_1468x2610~2.jpg20220606_183706.jpg

You only have two options really. Repro stock, or replacement original stock. You're missing both barrel bands and the handguard, so that won't ever be all matching. Shame, because that stock looks great.

Before I found a nice Waa77 stock, I took a try at Minellis repro stock which I sanded to improve the profile and transferred the takedown disk, the recoil lug and buttplate to. The rifle is a 39 Erma which was pretty much like yours, but still had the handguard and matching rear band.

Or splice the original below the lower band. Done right it will look great. A lot of duffle cuts were cut below the lower band.
Unfortunately the forend was cut too short for that. About 2 inches behind the lower band.

Let me clarify, the cut will be exposed below the lower band. This was often done on bring backs, often cut at 45 degrees. I have two rifles in my collection that were cut that way. Working on Oberndorf 43 that is similar to yours, a sporter save and it will be spliced 2" below the lower band. Mine has very nice wood and would always want the original would in lieu of a non original stock change. Just my 2 cents

Can you post some pictures? I have a nice laminated Waa26 stock that was modified for Yugo shorter barrel and then duffle cut. I have a full front part of another laminated stock, so enough for repair, but was concerned about how it would all look.

I need a walnut stock.i wish this were a duffle bag cut.thats easy to make look right.
The forearm was cut back too far then the bottom was tapered upward really screwing
Things up. This is a Luftwaffe walnut stock which I'll never find.

I have restored several sporters as a hobby, Walnut stocks just so hard to find, Last one I found was on an R/C. I used the stock and dropped the R/C barrel/action into another sporter stock that I have from a previous project. Sold that one to a gut for reenacting use. I always used unnumbered (not scrubbed) bands which show up every so often. Post pictures when you get done.

Any chance of a follow up on this?

Just scored a Herr walnut e63 duffle bag cut stock on fleabay. Now the hunt begins for a front end!
I'll post photos when the stock arrives.
I'm assuming you got this, from ebay... so any progress? Curious, because I have two repair stocks I need to get done.

Yes I got that one. It's a really nice stock but for some mysterious reason the band position is about two inches too far to the rear of where it should be. Back to the drawing board. The search continues.

Ohh, that sucks. Sorry.

I picked up what looked like a nice duffel cut early war Waa63 laminated stock, only to find out the band cut is 1/4th inch rearward of normal, like it was modified for a Yugo shorter barrel.

Same deal.
