Red glue laminate.
Is that a good or bad thing?Red glue laminate.
Is it an original finish?Pretty common.
“refinished red glue laminate”. Not hit as hard as many shown here, but still appears redone. note the scratches on the takedown disc.Is it an original finish?
Thankfully the stock has no signs of sanding with sharp edges all around and cartouches still present. Did some people just refinish the stock without sanding?“refinished red glue laminate”. Not hit as hard as many shown here, but still appears redone. note the scratches on the takedown disc.
Chemically stripping the stock and then restaining it has been a thing for a long time. Old School collectors use to bleach K98K stocks to get them really, really blonde in color.Thankfully the stock has no signs of sanding with sharp edges all around and cartouches still present. Did some people just refinish the stock without sanding?
respectfully disagree, the stock has been lightly sanded, look at the edges along the rear sight. my asessment is based on the very limited photos shown, will you show us the bolt cut out edges? More of the rest of the stock?Thankfully the stock has no signs of sanding with sharp edges all around and cartouches still present. Did some people just refinish the stock without sanding?
Hey dude, sorry didn't mean to say you thought it was sanded, just something I thought I'd mention. Here are some more photosrespectfully disagree, the stock has been lightly sanded, look at the edges along the rear sight. my asessment is based on the very limited photos shown, will you show us the bolt cut out edges? I didn’t write that it had been ruined by sanding, but IMO, it does show signs of some sanding & post war refinishing, based on photos furnished.
Hey bud, this is the only photo I have of the whole rifle. If that isn't sufficient I'll grab some more when I get home from work.Hey dude,
I DID say I thought it was sanded, & the way the additional photos are framed makes an honest assessment difficult. Can you show the whole rifle, rather than little snips of it?
But yes, it is a laminated beech plywood stock.
