What happened to my 1918 AMBERG?

It is now k98 dimensions in a laminate stock. The metal finish is some sort of black phosphate. Is there a CZ lion stamped on the receiver? The only other mark that is questionable is there seems to be a turk stamp on the extractor.
I'm wondering who did the modifications and when. Was it done by CZ and sold to the Turks sometime after WWII?
Looks like some of my pics are too big.....I'll see what I can do.

The czech lion you speak of is actually a Bavarian lion. Amberg is in Bavaria. So during the first war they received Bavarian acceptance. Could just be a thrown together rifle post war. Or could be something more interesting. Needs more photos for sure!
 
If you can't figure out uploading just throw them on imgur. Not ideal for a ton of reasons, but better than nothing.

If you want a easy way to do it in the future and you're on Windows, download PowerToys. It's an official (and free) microsoft product, and among a bunch of other useful things it lets you batch resize images. I find the medium preset plays well with the restrictions here.
 
What are the markings on the barrel, under the wood? That's likely to tell most of the story if it was shortened to K98-length.

I've seen more than one RC with an Imperial receiver. They aren't super common, but it's a thing that you see due to all the ways old receivers got recycled during WW2.
 
Ah, well, chalk that up to another case of "pics help."

Not ideal for a bunch of reasons (most notably longevity of the pics and this thread making sense to someone else finding it in a few years) but sufficient for immediate needs.

it isn’t only you, here’s the ‘why’: the site owners are collectors, and as collectors have a strong commitment to the hobby, which means that photos posted here will be preserved and accessible ‘almost forever’ unlike many online fora you may run across doing research. I’ve found info on gunboards, the high road, old reddits, but 15-20 year old posts with photos inaccessible are only so useful. It costs real +$$$ to store a ton of large photos, still $$ but manageable if they aren’t so big. there are no ads here & no one’s selling your isp address.
but I agree, I’d post more pix if it was easier, or I was more inter device savvy. Keep trying, you’ll get great info!

Second that. Looks like a Russian captured K98k stock and mostly K98k parts. The barrel being 24 inches yet retaining the Lange sights makes me wonder if it was an Inter Arms import, those were usually hacked.
 
I agree with the above. It does have a turk stamp on the extractor, but I don't think that is significant.
I'll just shoot it, it has an excellent bore.
I'll post some more interesting 98's pretty soon, with better light.
