What does a real 1917-era K98a sling look like?

Hello everyone,

I searched the forum, I tried Google, but there is almost no information on how a real ww1 K98a sling looks like.

I found this picture:

from this thread:

Is this the correct kind of sling to look for, with this kind of buckle?
And the "frog" at the end, like it was also used in ww2?

Thanks for help,
Christian

The K98 slings for mounted personal did not have such a buckle, but rather a leather loop sewn onto the sling.
Both types can be found with 9 small holes for a roller buckle instead of the WWII type keeper.

Weren’t the slings with the leather loop instead of a metal adjustment buckle a carryover from the slings used on the kar 88?

here is a photo of an original kar 98 sling. There are lots of commercial slings around about the same width and the same type buckle, so they do get reproduced.

This one came on a G date K98k.
