What actually is a depot build rifle?

My first K98K that started it all, got this one in 2017? Either way it's a matching depot build except the rod. Still love this example even tho the bolt feels almost as gritty as my BNZ 44 SS contract.

More photos of your rifle? Your rifles finish looks like it could be a russian capture but the barrel and sights may have been replaced during the war by the germans. They didnt always replace front sight bases with ones that were slotted for a sight hood. My BCD 41 is not slotted for a sight hood as its a depot build and they just used what they had.

Hi everyone, bcd 4 guy here asking for decoding help again please! I hopefully captured better pictures this time. The forum photo uploader tool here doesn’t like my file sizes so I’ve got all the pics linked below. Any help on determining what I have would be greatly appreciated as I’m just assuming it’s a war used rifle that was “rebarreled” at some point now.
