Werder Gendarmerie Francotte

Hi there,

a friend of mine found a Werder Gendarmerie rifle some weeks ago. I asked him if I could put some pix online on this forum, and here they are!
He says the bore is like a mirror, and he wants to take her to the range, so he added an auxiliary front sight (not forever, of course).
I find the stock markings fascinating!

many greetings

T

That is a top shelf example, B.. Thank you for posting it here.

These old soldiers hung around for 40 years of service. Storz has a number of interesting anecdotes about their service in the infamous shootout with the "outlaw" Mathias Kneißl; by then these were pretty well-worn and prone to malfunction. This manifested in pretty spectacular fashion during the shootout. Witnesses thought the police were using muskets, when in reality they were using the cleaning rod to dislodge stuck cartridges.
