Volkssturm dog tags?

Have seen round types attributed to the Volkssturm for sale. Wondering if Volkssturm actually got issued dog tags? If so were they actually different from the standard oval type commonly seen? Thanks in advance for any time spent in response. Appreciated!

Hi M45!
Thanks for taking the time to respond, appreciated! I actually saw that ad myself. Just wondering if it's legit? With the Volkssturm being what it was it just seems odd to have a totally different dog tag. With things falling apart as they were I'm surprised they issued any at all much less a different style. But then the German's seemed to complicate things on a regular basis. Thanks again!

I'm thinking the command structure of the Volkssturm had uniforms and dog tags, but the lowly civilian fighters had only an official armband along with their civilian clothes and hodge-podge of weaponry. As the ad says, the Volkssturm was not formed by the Wehrmacht but by the NSDAP, so makes sense their dogtags would be different from Wehrmacht. Not an expert on dog tags. You will need to do more research to confirm authenticity of this one.

Sounds reasonable that the people higher up the ladder would have uniforms and tags etc. While the old guy with the shotgun had an armband. Have always been interested in the late war period. In years past spoke with local veterans that actually had contact with them. Western front of course. General opinion was they were not very interested in any of it. They knew it was over. Will have to research some more on the tag thing. Thanks again for stopping by!

Here is a helmet I believe to be Volkssturm. Brush textured black reissue with home made liner/strap riveted. I could have bought another black M42 reissue with the word VOLKSSTURM painted across the front. I unfortunately passed on this decades ago.

Coolest thing I have is a paper fold out Volksturm training manual. Just basic information terrain, digging in, ambush tactics etc. Also a couple Volkssturm Soldbuchs with the guys pictures. On-line auction has a Volkssturm officers tunic for sale at this time. Might make a run at that. I am also on the lookout for Flakhelfer items. Cool helmet - thanks for the picture. Appreciated! Good luck, hope you find lots of treasures!

Any possibility of posting pics of that training manual?
