Value question

Hi folks. I stick mostly to k98s but have a few representative k43s, but don’t follow the market closely so I need some advice. I’m considering a trade and would like to know relative value of a ac45 vs qve45. Let’s assume both are matching and not cleaned, vg-excellent condition. And set aside the vagarities of more valuable variants I.e. milled action cover or dual lug etc. assume both are the most common variant of each maker/code. And of course I understand that “value” is relative to the individual‘s needs and taste. So all things being equal which would be more valuable or desirable. Again I understand that it depends on the individual but I just need a basis or starting point since again I’ve not followed this market closely. Appreciate your thoughts!

In My opinion only, I would think they are both of equal value according to your description. One might value the Walther over Lubecker but that would be an indviduals valuation.

As long as there is not something that makes the rifle 'unique' - I would also judge them as being equal in value. As stated some people are Walther fans just as some people are 'Ford' or 'Chev' fans. As a result that buyer may be willing to pay a small premium for a Walther. The only thing IMHO that would increase the value of one rifle over the other would be an interesting variation as you mentioned (dual lug, Ng production, etc).

I have both a late d block ac45 with dual guide lug and a high number (not the highest) f block qve45 with milled action cover. Both are fully matching and each is unique in it's own right but I'll just say the qve45 was the harder (a longer wait) of the two to find. To me that gives the qve45 a slight edge. Neither likely saw wartime service as late production as they were if that matters to you. It does to me so I place those very late rifles as a bit less desirable to me than an early rifle that probably did see service. Still, the money is about the same for all of them.

I totally agree... how many AC45s do you see vs qve45s? and out of those qve45s how many are unmolested? Not many, I rarely see them--of course Virginia sucks, there is never anything good around here it sucks.

The problem with AC45s, is 90% of the time the stock was sanded because Walter left them rough from the pantograph.

If you could post good pictures of the rifles we could give you a more accurate assessment.

Stone mint Id value a Qve45 slightly higher to the AC counter part due to scarcity. But, thats me and everyones Ideas are different so its really a question with no right or wrong answer.
