Hi all, looking at a local G43. Stock appears to have been sanded. I don't see a serial number on it, not sure if it's correct .Bolt appears to be matching. Bolt holder is damaged. The broken off piece is in the picture with the bolt. Stock is starting to split. Bore is nice. Any opinions? What do you guys think of a value?

Is the rear of the receiver deformed? Does the safety pop off when fired? I ask because it looks like someone has been blasting away with this one. If it were me I’d move on unless it’s priced really low.

If it is deformed, It wasn't obvious, but I agree, it was beat up. I don't have the rifle to test. He was asking $3400 but wasn't aware of these problems as he hasn't taken it apart in 40 years.

If you can get the serial number, I might have past entries on this rifle. If not, it will be added to my serial number listings.

If i was looking to purchase that one and seeing what needs to be done to it, I am paying no more that $2K for it.

This same rifle was posted on the Gunboards G41/G43 subforum. That receiver and stamped housing are pretty beat up. That would concern me far more than the sanded stock. Hard pass!

I posted it on the other forum. It mostly turned into an argument about using surplus ammo so I came here for more guidance.

Also the stock has a crack at the butt end and may have one forward of the mag well. The one I bought had the forestock crack all the way through but is repairable. I think that one has too many problems.
