An unusual tinned sheet metal box by G. Appel. Very well constructed of folded tinned sheet metal with silver soldered joints similar to their early rg34 behälter. Simple round stock hinge assembly is attached with soldered tabs. Held closed with tension latches attached to the lid with rounded head rivets. Impressed at the lid is G. Appel > 1935 > Spandau within an oval. Dimensions are 18 cm X 6.5 cm X 3 cm. Unknown identification or for what it was originally intended for.

Perhaps for small spare parts for a weapon such as the MG08/15 or others?
 
I am going with some sort of spares tin as Slash says...I have spares tins for MG's, and the 8cm Mortar, etc, all of similar size and construction....
