Stock maintenance

The channel seems untreated/ raw... the exterior appears normal for a used & period treated w/ oxidation. I would leave as is

Hehehe that’s awesome. Yeah guns don’t magically follow a different set of rules.

Correct Bob, channel isn’t sealed in any way. Sounds like I’ll just leave it.

I’ve used Howard’s feed and wax for years. Works great, just a little on your hand to coat, then wipe off.
That or non-petroleum Ballistol have been my go to's. Howard's on the non-shooters and Ballistol on the ones that go out for a walk now and then.

All my collection of 98ks, Lugers, P-38s and other collectables are for show and tell only, non shooters. Expensive day at the range with a cracked stock, cracked slide, broken firing pin and etc. I oil them up for preservation and eye candy.

I have two bolt mm byf 43s, a laminate and walnut, with mint mirror bores, which are my shooters / hog hunters. Same with a P.38. I don't shoot my collector stuff.
