Stamped, K98k wide rear band question. Pics now.

How do you tell the difference between an unmarked, late WW2, stamped, wide rear band and a post war Israeli, unmarked, stamped, wide rear band?

Clint, I bought an incomplete Israeli K98 in a 7.92 marked Beech stock. It came with a stamped, wide rear band. The band in question does not have any markings that I have found. My question is; is this a unmarked ww2 German [ or ?] band or one produced by Israel?

There is no wide late war band. :moon:

..

I thought all bands were wide except Gew98? Nevermind, I see the smiley. Archies in rare form today. The Israeli bands were milled without a groove werent they or were they stamped like the H bands?

Israeli replacements are wide, no groove, milled, parkerised (pretty crude really).

The band in the picture looks late-war Czech or post-war Czech. Most stamped bands had no waffenamt anyway, regardless.

Thanx all. Is there a good reference somewhere on the characteristics of the K98's used by Israel?
