Of course there are those few on the forum who have said, and will say "ALL SS CLOTH IS FAKE" and Poor old Dave is a half wit who knows nothing about SS cloth.

That is fine w/ me because every site has it's small number of village idiots

Sweet wrapper. What do yo think of where prices are on these today vs when you picked them up? Crazy what they can go for.

Prices have certainly surged. I think I have less than $1,000.00 U.S. in the wrapper. I would expect probably $12,000.00 or more. Cuff title alone is around $1400.00. Hammer head eagle is $800.00 - 1,000.00. LAH boards are at least $1,000. Back in the 70s and 80s when I was in Germany there were bargains to be found. But those days are long gone.

Of course I am waiting for certain people to call it a fake or an At The Front or Lost Battalion reproduction.

And there is no use in pointing out that they are ignorant vermin.
 
Welcome back, Dave ! I know how you feel in regard to your rare SS items. I have had a number of 'experts' look at my SS metal shield.

One dealer in Reno told me such things were never made. When I asked him about the example featured in SS Regalia and Nazi Regalia, he said that one was fake as well. I left the area before he could give me an offer on it.

Others told me that it might as well be fake because I could never prove that it is real.

I nearly added a quote on the title page of my lot# book that said, "If I had known how many a$$holes were in this hobby, I would have collected Barbie Dolls instead".

What a GREAT quote !!!! and 100% true !!!!!

Often followed by , " I'll make you a REASONABLE offer on it simply because ....... "

A dealer would list that at $18-20K. Glad you’re back posting again.

There is a large and old SS- militaria collection being sold through Herman Historica-
It might be worth following to see what some things are bringing-

I think they are so far and few between that the ask would be in that range, not sure what actual sale would be.
 
I guess I just haven't kept up w/ prices / My stuff was purchased many years ago / But I never bought anything looking to make a killing when I sold it / To be honest I never really thought abut selling anything until recently when I volunteered to dispose of Mark Jones' estate

Its to a point where it seems everything is called out as fake unless one of these guys own it, then its real...

I will say the SS uniforms are just fricking amazing, I love the Pzjgr or Stug wrap the best...as soon as At The Front has their new ones done, I am getting one, since unless I hit the lottery, I'll never own an original...

Thank you /// I could never afford this stuff today, but when I was in Germany in the mid 1980s things were different. The Turks worked at the menial jobs the Germans wanted no part of and as rag pickers they often found real treasure that they sold at the Frankfurt Flohmarkt every Saturday. Since I could not buy firearms over there I was at the flohmarkt every chance I could get there. I loved the Glühwein at Christmas. After a few cups the cold disappeared !!!!!!

Man, when I was stationed in Germany in 2005-2008, all I got was repro junk lol. Just a few small items, though, that I thought may have been real. I was always into WWII history, but at that time, I had no clue what to look for in terms of militaria. That's was a way different time too compared to your time there!
