Sornet Wetzlar 7 x 42 #1 reticle?

I'm looking for any information about this sort of scope. I have purchased one from Germansniper1 on Ebay for use in a reproduction sniper rifle. I know it's not WW2 era, but the rifle it is being mounted to was a sporterized BYF44 that I have attempted to rescue, so I'm not going for 100% authenticity. Regarding the rifle, unfortunately the barrel was shot out causing it to key-hole at 50 yards. I have had a gunsmith (Charlie Romero in Vermont) rebarrel it with a new-old-stock Isreali .308 win barrel and had the entire action re-phosphated. He is currently repairing a few spot and re-finishing the entire stock before fitting it to the action. Next he will be setting up the LSR mount with the scope I mentioned in the subject.

I know next to nothing about the Sornet Wetzlar scope and would like to know anything I can about it. Where and when it may have been made, by whom, and if they are well regarded? Is there anyone in the US I can send the scope to have it refinished or would that be a waste of money?

Thanks very much for your help!

If the scope is functioning well I wouldnt spend any money getting it refinished.

Get some and emery cloth of varying grit and work your way down to a very fine finish..start @ 220 (or finer depending on its condition)and work your way to 400 or 600...then cold blue it...you will have enough money in the gun as it is after Charlie gets done with you.

Be sure to warm it well before you apply the blue then rub it down with some gun oil afterwards...wont look perfect but it will fit the bill.

Make sure CR knows the diameter of the scope in case he has to ream out the rings to fit it properly..The rings are for a 26.5 scope by default...but your scope may be 27.

This is how it looked when I picked it up for $250 off of Gunbroker:

Slowly I acquired the parts to restore it:

Everything installed:

This is how she looked right before I shipped her to Charlie. As I mentioned, he's rebarrelled her, rephosphated, and is refinishing and repairing the stock. Next he'll work on the scope mount as it will not bore sight and isn't directly in line with the barrel. He has definitely made some money off of me, but it looks like great work so far:
