Who in their right mind would leave rust that looks like this on a rifle that is going to be marketed and sold??? How hard would it be to wipe it down to stop the active rust with some oil before shooting pictures. These photos make me nauseous.

Fine with me, it just means I can get it cheaper. Besides - if the seller cleans it he is likely to use steel wool and take the blue off with the rust. Better left alone until I get my hands on it.

It could be a marketing campaign for Penetrating Oil to show the Before and After look of a rode hard and put away wet German rifle.

Or simply, the owner of the rifle graduated from the School of the Mechanically Declined.
