Sniper Pictures

Hello,

same for the wood not relieved from the stock for the base a J.P.Sauer ONLY feature.

It looks like it is a large logo Weihrauch SSR mount with Zielvier in it (to what I know only on this type of mount the locking lever pointed straight forward when fully locked). Does anyone happen to know when the H barrel bands started to disappear with S&S, to be able and date this rifle?

Good eye Vaughn. Something I didn't pick up on at first either. The one SSR I saw that I thought was real was a salty CE43 @ SOS quite a few years back..

not german but, great photos.

I found these somewhere and wanted to post before I lost them. Great shots of Brit and commonwealth snipers.

#9 looks like the guy would be shot by his own side wearing that suit. Done as a test to see if the camo pattern worked?

The K98k has a PEM scope and PEM side type mount used 37-40 and 42.

The Mosin is a top mount with PE scope, used mostly 32-37 but some come up past that plus the Leningrad siege mounts.

Couple of fun ones I have in my files.
I find the one with the in-the-white optic to be interesting as I can't imagine being a combat sniper with a shiny metal object, perhaps a propaganda piece?

Looking again at one of my pictures with the sniper rifle held in hand - what is that in front of the scope bases? Does this guy have a partially mounted rear sight cover on his rifle?

Sorry, but I have some concerns about that photo.
Shade on front and rear base looks strange.
Ocular/eyepiece looks like a Dialytan objective, not like a rubber eyecup.
The part in front of the front base is the mount for the grenade launcher sight for the "Schießbecher mit Klappkorn".
A sniper with a grenade launcher?? Possible, but ........!

In early May 1941, right for the Crete raid, the Luftwaffe Sturm Regiment 1 got their first 450 "Schießbecher mit Klappkorn".

As I said, possible, but .....! I just don't like that photo.

Wolfgang, compared that picture once again with others which show a Zielvier with rubber eyecup. They had the rubber eyecup exactly in the same position as in this picture, probably 5mm behind the corner where the cylindrical part becomes conical. And with the shadows I can't follow your assumption, to me it looks correct. To met his therefore looks like a 100% correct Zielvier on turret mounts. I agree it is very odd to have a Grenade Launcher sight on a sniper rifle, but why not select some special persons for the very first they get?

Edit: the two pictures don't necessarily need to show the same rifle!
