Sniper Marked Stock?

Hello,

Final fire proof was dropped from rifles in 1944 between l (L) block 5862 - l (L) block 6346. after that and for the whole 1945 production E/214 might of been considered the final inspection proof kind of like the late BNZ45 stock proofs . hope this helps

On ZFK43 Marked stocks the earliest I have QVE45 d (D) 593 and it has matching mount. the latest I have is e (E) 2150 and has no mount present. I only have 5 observation with this marking. I truly believe that the rifles past the sniper test were marked due to lack of available mounts or optics or unable to engrave mounts to rifles, there must of been some kind of hold up or lack of something is why these late war rifle stocks got marked in this manor. when it became time to be finished or parts became available they were added to these specific ear marked rifles. at some point way to late they were just pushed out the door or captured at the factory never making it to full sniper status, I think.

Vaugh, This theory makes a lot of sense to me based on the few that we have to look at. Thanks for your information. Any other opinions?

Vaughn,

Many thanks for your input, that may help explain my late "e" block which looks to be un-issued with the un-numbered 214 mount. Maybe this was one of the ones that were captured at the factory.
