Sloppy byf44 F Block

"Ach du lieber!"
Picked this one up from a local pawn shop thanks to a buddy. Kid pawned it for $100 and never came back for it. July '44 production- right as things were getting hurried and right before finish polishing etc was eliminated. Anyways, its a combat rifle in uncleaned condition and I thought I'd post some pics as its one of the sloppier 98's I've seen in terms of factory mm parts.

8415: receiver, stock, bolt, shroud, safety, firing pin, TG, FP
8475: upper band, lower band, cocking piece
8473: Handguard

All are factory numbers. Has e/18 rear sight piece and e/140 bolt. Barrel code is 44 D 360.

Nice score. I can understand the 1 and 7 mix up as I have always thought the MO 1 looked like a 7. You done good and interesting rifle.

Nice pictures. I'm really starting to take an interest in these old war horses. I love my AR and my PPQ but these pieces of history are really growing on me

Nice one Rob! Hopefully you got a deal because it's all mismatched!! Hahahah I'd have used that as a bargaining tool.

Pretty unusual mistakes for MO. I had a dot 1944 with 3 factory errors but I've never seen a MO with that many. Cool rifle.

Also of note is the milled bottom metal. Seems a fair number of f blocks are equipped with milled tg/fp's for some reason.

Hi J- was just speaking with bruce about the bottom metal. There will be an interesting tidbit in the book about this.
