Anyone here know what this is - country and rifle?

French, for Berthier, MAS36, etc.

Check the length. The 42 inch ones are the carbine/mousqueton ones are are fairly common to find, but the shorter 36 inch ones are for rifles and are tough to find!

The button end looks straight, so it I suspect it will be the common 42 inch one, but I suspect it came off of a per-armistace MAS36.

So its the shorter one - between 36 and 37".
