I have wanted a nice K98 for a long time but they're all very expensive on GB and AL. There's a listing on guns international here in VA and I have no idea if it's a good deal or not. It is not numbers matching but it has a clean bore and tight lockup for $1700.
I would like to know
1 - is the rifle itself a worthwhile piece to own or is it worthless because it's some kind of Frankenstein? What can you tell about the rifle from the photos?
2 - Is it a decent deal? I realize many people got nice original Mausers back in the day for $500-1300 but I missed the boat. Can I realistically get a better example for less money in (current year)? Would this be a decent buy?
Please let me know anything you can discern from the posting, thanks!
