Simson 625 sling

I bought this sling and the tip is far too wide to fit the rifle’s swivel. I presume it’s probably taken a set from moisture and expansion sitting on the buckle stud but I’m not positive now, it’s over 3/16 too wide. Are there any other rifles that possibly used a sling like this or am I missing a piece of the sling hardware?

It looks to me like this sling could work on the Simson 625 which has the bottom mounted sling, but not the 625a, b or c which uses the side mounted sling.
Which do you have?

The early 625 like you mentioned, I tried it with no luck.

could be for a number of different model pre kar98k production where the trainers mimicked the gew98. They were all of their own designs as there was NO oversight from the Gov. to standardize a trainer.
So there could be alot of variables and variations of bands and slings ect.
