I picked this up today for a good price before someone else grabbed it. I would appreciate some input on if it is real and what it maybe worth. Thanks

It is original (real). Not at all rare; but extremely desirable in the collecting community. If someone desires only a single S84/98 in their collection, this is the one. Value is whatever the market will bear. As an example, there is a very nice one in the same letter block currently listed on a popular on-line auction sight priced at $1500 .......

Really nice phosphated 44sgx with riveted grips in most common ii range. I assume this piece was found in USA as the pieces 6791 and 6807 ii were reported from there. Most real GI bringback directly from depot. no wearing traces on scabbard.
