SG42 toolkit bayonet

Trying to get an idea of the value. Markings are 'cof WaA519'. Is complete with functional toolkit.

An original second model S42 in every way; bayonet, scabbard and tool insert. Congratulations as they are not easy to source. A few possible condition issues ie; sharpened blade, patina, some apparent surface corrosion, leather blade buffer is missing, etc. Does the locking lever function? Is the TO slot for mounting to the rifle undamaged? Unable to see if the corkscrew is present in the tool insert? More detailed photos would certainly be helpful.

The S42 looks like well used, someone proofed to remove rust from rivets in handle, which caused a strange filing around. The blade was well used, and resharpened probably.

Sebastian Thiem's book, Deutsche Versuchs- und Musterseitengewehre von 1895 - 1945 includes a period photo that the author states shows S42 in-wear. Sadly, the image is enlarged with low resolution and grainy appearance making a positive identification impossible (at least in my opinion). I have never observed a clear period photograph of the S42.

The early modell would be probably wout any problem photographed as tested since 1943, more problematic would be use of this production bunch model, as some were reported found in boxes already in period march/april 1945 in north Bohemia/Moravia. Captured by locals directly from railway wagons. From intact blueing on inner tool, i would assume not extra used the parts, more real only as knife.
