Script ce 43 w/ LSR receiver flat

Mike,

I am not so concerned about making a mistake. I know it was not an authentic sniper based on the number holes. What I am trying to figure out is if I should keep it. I wanted an LSR and I can make a fake one by starting off with a core gun in better shape and buy all the aftermarket parts. I think that would cost about $1500 when it is all said and done. Or, should I complete this gun with pins since someone already put the threaded holes into the base. Since this is a real Sauer sniper base, I would assume this is as close as you can get to the real deal. It also came with a real base, mount, and scope. Is ~$3000 worth the money to keep this gun as an "LSR" even though it has flaws? I have seen other f block ce unfinished snipers without the serial number on the barrel. Opinions? I made the auction house send me a signed letter stating it is and authentic LSR sniper with no repro parts. I got that to protect myself if I need to do a reverse charge against them.

Does this gun look like a Romanian capture based on the lack of bluing compared to under the wood and the excessive pings?

Jon

First I would present the evidence to whom you bought it from that it is not an original sniper rifle but a put together replica. If you really want one that badly see if they will knock off some of what you paid. As far as the scope, base and mount are you sure they are original?

I will post some pictures and my theories. The receiver mount looks original because it is made for a flat walled receiver. All the repro ones are for a curved wall receiver. It also has the push button lock at the end for the cover. That added detail makes me think it is real. The scope mount has the 359 stamp which can be faked. The overall design of the contours looks like the originals. I have scoured the internet for repro mounts and none of them look remotely similar to the detail of this one. The scope is the scary component. It is marked Dialytan 4x bmj 75001 +. The script look correct under a microscope and it is not sloppy like the repros. It has wear at all the edges which can be done with a buffer. There are specs of rust inside the both glass areas. It has the recoil ring on it also. Is there any thing else I should be looking for on the scope?
