Scope / Solid ring fitment

I apologize if this question has been asked but, if so, I stink at key word searches. I bought high turret mounts and a Kahles H4/60 from Robert Spielauer over 20 years ago and as my career of moving all over with the Marines has ended, I’m finally getting around to getting it all put together. Disclaimer: NO, I’m not going having it put together on a matching K98K. I also bought a Soviet capture K98 many moons ago which is going to serve as the base.
So my local ‘smith is taking on the project but is having a hard time getting the scope base through the solid rings. He’s tried heating up the rings but can’t get the base into the rings past the threads of the objective. I’m certainly no ‘smith but suggested freezing the base as well as heating the rings?
I’d really love to get everyone’s experience / input / guidance on this project so I can pass it along to my gunsmith. They were purchased from Herr Spielauer by me and are not some dubious knock off.
Also, solder or no solder for rings to scope and base to receiver?

Has your gunsmith every built a any Repro German Sniper Rifle before ?? If not I have a suggestion which You may not agree with but this is the only route I would go . There is a very well known gunsmith that is usually always recommended for such a build here his name is Eric Johnson vaughn99@myyahoo.com . I would suggest that You transfer your rifle to Eric and have him do your build . Just my opinion and best advise I can think of giving you . Eric is tops in this field . Hope this helps You .

I second this, he is currently building my k98 LSR and as far as I've been told he is the only person who's name has come up over and over in this community for these builds.

Hello,
I had the same problem with two R. SPIELAUER mounts on DKL and Khales.
I drill the inside with emery cloth mounted on a screwdriver handle, then finished with a reamer.
You have to be very patient, wear thick gloves and change the emery cloth often
Please note, if the assembly is soldered with tin, it is essential to remove the glass first, otherwise the lenses will darken.
Regards
