Nice one Dave and thanks for posting. I remember that I block early BMJ scope and recall it being in the Volume IIb Book with your tan color can. Here is pics of my SC Can . Sorry I don't have any close ups . View attachment 284527
Yes, thanks Dave. Here is the can you speak of I think. It is in my pictures in this thread, but got lost in the mix maybe. Here it is again. I thought they only came in tan. Here it is to compare with full size tan can. A High Turret Ajack, Low Turret Ajack, Low Turret BMJ, High Turret BMJ, Low Turret CAD, High Turret CAD, High Turret Kahles H4X60 all fit in this can. A Single Claw Scope Does not. I just tried these scopes. Does it come in green as well?Brian
I believe there is one other type Can that is seldom seen or even known , the Can I speak of is specific to LT Scopes this Can is Narrower in overall width .
The Pic I posted I am using as reference to show which side of Can is narrower , so if You look at this photo the width is Narrower if You look at the Can face on in comparison to this photo . I believe that PPP post a photo of such a Can , if not Paul then someone else did .
I think whichever source or who made the sniper stamped the number on the can. Of course later on the cans did not get numbered anyway. I think each maker had their method and font as I tried to display in this thread. However, there is always more to see. If the rifle went to a depot I suppose it could or would possibly get separated from the scope with can and hard to say what would happen in that case. Thanks for your reply.Very interesting. What I have always wanted to know is when did the cans get numbered. Maybe when rifles went to Spandau depot they got a can. Or some other point in the supply chain. Hence why we see such a weird mix of numbering and colors. Seems too inconsistent to be factory but that is just a guess.
Yes. LSR cans I’ve seen are marked on non WaA/JVD/belt loop side of can. Also, different font/size from Single Claw Cans. I would say most LSR cans don’t have letter block. They also have compartment for rail and azimuth adjustment tool.Brian here are Pic of Sauer LSR Cans I owned some do have the letter suffix and others did not , I have a few others once I find the pics of these sets I will post them up .
That’s my Sauer Scope and matched can. I do not know of or remember a Sauer LSR or Turret Can with a letter block on it. Dave said he saw one. He posted that earlier here.Interestingly, the Sauer LSR cans do not have the letter suffix on the non strap side of the lid. This is Sauer can 3005X with matched Spring Steel Banded Sauer DOW LSR Scope. I would guess the Sauer High Turret Cans would have same font and numbered on strap side with or without letter block??????
I have a likewise can without scope and formed a likewise theory. Thank you for confirmation.
Dave. Is that the only Sauer Can you have seen with a letter block?Brian here are pics of a Sauer LSR Can , I owned . Some are actually found both ways with & without letter suffix on non strap/belt loop side of Can.
I have a few pictures of others once I find the pics of these sets I will post them up .
