That's a really great rifle Dave. I had seen this rifle in books and in person, but had forgotten how much I liked it. Great set of military WaA marked scope covers as well. Those are hard to find. Do you have any pictures of the stock serial numbers? I was not sure or could not remember the butt plate type until now. Thanks for sharing that.
I did not take it apart , I guess I should have because I knew I was going to be asked if Stock was Matched to action . I will post em .

Those lens cover came with the LSR Mount & 6X you posted. That set you posted came in a Leather SS Dienstglas Scope Case . Richard Milton also has an LSR with 6X Zeiss and a Leather SS type Case , Richard told me the Case is Numbers matching to Mount . I would like to see that case .

I have never seen another set of those Covers for sale . I agree that those covers are extremely hard to find . I have only seen 1 or 2 other sets of these covers in 20+ years of collecting

Nice Dave. Looks like it’s never had a screwdriver in the action screws. Beautiful
Thank You Rick . Your are correct about screws . I know of only 1 other all matching example like this one , it is also 100% matching . A very good friend of mine who's also a forum member here is the owner of that example .

Jordan Thank You and Your Welcome

Beauty Dave. Interesting that they made these right to the bitter end of production of the 98k. Love the milled FB and FP.

Would this type of scope have the standard mil reticle?

Thank You . Yes it has standard 3 post or No# 1 reticule . As for the FB a lot of the Sauer rifles I have seen have the milled front bands , my Sauer HT also has milled front band . IMHO they look better than the stamped bands . I am prefer the look of milled type bands over stamp bands . But I guess it comes down each collectors individual preference.

A speed milled front band is definitely the best!

I have to mention how I ended having a chance and ultimately buying this LSR , I likely would not own this Sauer LSR if it was not for Mike Steves & Bruce Karem. It is a long weird story but the short version I had just started talking with Mike and Mike introduced me to Bruce who I had never spoken to before. Bruce mentioned that he had found this LSR and 2 other HT`s at Greg Martin Auction House in California . Bruce kindly deferred all 3 Sniper rifles to me , but under one condition that I promised to try my best to win them , I ended up winning 2 of the 3 . The other was a BYF45 Walnut stock HT that I won. IMHO there are not many collectors out there that would be willing to defer such sniper rifles to some unknown collector who they know nothing about . Just want to say Thank You one more time to both my friends Mike & Bruce

We all owe each other a debt of gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving Dave!

I just noticed mine lacks the tiny screw in the side of the dial yours has, possibly a military contract addition? My scope is 701XX serial range, so not terribly far away from yours
