S/42K a 8608

I was able to recently purchase this S/42K. Many thanks to the forum member that gave me the tip where it was for sale.

It appears to be all matching less the hand guard and the rear trigger guard screw. The cleaning rod appears to be E/63 but I'm not completely sure. Originally it was duffel cut but I had it professionally restored by Jeff Walmsley.

As always, comments and opinions are welcome.

Congrats on the rifle, it's not often you come across a S/42K out in the wild! Beautiful walnut on this one and the handguard seems to match pretty nicely for a mismatch. Out of curiosity, how's the bore on this one after 11 years of service?

I was able to recently purchase this S/42K. Many thanks to the forum member that gave me the tip where it was for sale.

It appears to be all matching less the hand guard and the rear trigger guard screw. The cleaning rod appears to be E/63 but I'm not completely sure. Unfortunately, it has been duffel cut.

As always, comments and opinions are welcome.
If the duffle cut really bothers you….I suppose I could find a spot for it in my collection…..😜

Glad I could help you score on the S/42K. Would have loved to have picked it up myself, just out of funds right now! Hope the other K98 he has you might be interested in turns out to be as nice. I'll try to check it out for you this week.

I wanted to give an update on this rifle.

I decided to have the duffle cut repaired for a two reasons, I did not want to see any parts lost or further damaged. I know some of you may disagree with that decision. However, if you are thinking of having one repaired, Jeff Walmsley did the work at a reasonable rate. I have no regrets and it gives me a little peace of mind. I hope this may help some of you.

The last photograph shows red arrows pointing to the compression marks that were made by the rear band due to the duffle cut void. The yellow arrows indicate the restored area where the cut was originally made and is now repaired. *Note, you are looking at the left side of the stock.
