I recently picked up an Rg 34 marked cmr41 WaA14. The kit of course is missing the HKW. The Behalter is marked on both lids cmr41. The oiler has a stamp on the very bottom that I'm not familiar with. Does anyone have an idea what this stamp is?

I believe that stamp is for G Appel. I remember a discussion about it in the past, can`t remember the details. Maybe commercial stamp. One of our experts will surely comment.

Interesting "cmr" kit. I like both lids being marked... factory foul up. Components are mixed with later RGK having the "paper-clip" patch loop. The G APPEL icon marked oiler is a nice plus. Sometimes the "apple" is found on RGK swivel-links as well. Don't know if it has ever been observed on a HKW.

Far from expert, but: This is the commercial logo of Gustav Appel, an apple with G and A inside, and it is still in use. Appel means Apfel in German colloquial language.

In the link below, starting with response #12 there is discussion of the Appel trademark as found on post-war cleaning kits ......

Have never seen this. Do you have an example or photo?

I contacted my pal w/the MADLER 37 Rg34. Thought he was once trying to decipher a stamp on a RGK swivel link which might have been the GA Icon. He does not recall that specifically, but said he has at least three GA icon marked oilers. Two may have come in later, 1930s Klein Kaliber kits. He is going to go thru the Rg34s, will report back and I will post his findings here...
