Fellow Collectors:
Auctions where you have to deal with the "Big Three"... (buyer premium, tax and shipping charges) I typically avoid. However, saw the pictured Rg34 and since this particular auction house doesn't often have such items, thought I would take a shot. Put in my max bid three days before closing and got it for that price. What I focused on was the extruded sheet steel oiler (no seam) and arr44 marked HKW. So, kit arrived today and was pleased with what I got. This Rg34 may have been a USGI Vet capture/reuse kit. When received, the patch compartment held all the USGI cleaning material seen in the fifth photo (except "64" coded/WaA RGK). There was also a ancient, folded-over piece of 120 grit sandpaper as well... not something particularly desired in any cleaning kit! The behalter is green paint and there is no WaA. On top of the component compartment lid is etched "TOP" on each side. The obverse of the behalter has a arrow etched thru the paint pointing to the compartment lid and in front of the arrow is etched "Russ". From the look of it, possibly a G.I. put his cleaning material inside the patch compartment and seems to have left the German stuff alone. However, this kit undoubtedly came with a twisted wire RGK. Makes one wonder if the wire was later changed out in preference for the better alloy beaded chain by "Russ". Again, my primary motivation was the oiler and HKW needed elsewhere, but am leaning towards leaving every thing "as is"... Thoughts?
