Question for imported rifles.

My rifle has an import stamp from Century. Did they keep records of any kind on when and where it was imported from?

If so, is it in any way accessible to Joe public such as myself?

There may be some clues on that gun that point to where it came from if you want to upload some images. Such as Romanians peening the eagles.

Regarding that I've seen the single pin punch neatly getting only the Swazi and the style where they used multiple prick punch shots obscuring most of the stamp.

My K98k has the multiple strikes…but then they got lazy and didn’t bother going after anything that was below the stock.

Im running errands so I’ll upload later. Century sent the “they’ll get to me when it happens cause we’re busy” e-mail.

Here’s some pictures. ADHD question. I’ve never noticed the “F” looking stamp by the rear sight. What’s it for?

It doesn’t have any peened off markings, just heaving pitting and worn finish

Any Waffenamnt markings at all ? What does the stock markings look like ? On underside behind triggerguard and right hand side by take down disc.

Anything on righthand side of the receiver?

There’s a C on the spine on bottom of stock.
7395 in the channel (don’t remember if it’s handguard or barrel)

But nothing else on the stock. I’ll go take more photos

There’s some stamps on the right side of the receiver, but it’s so corroded I can’t make anything out

i bought seven of the Romanian imports from the same dealer when they first came in , in the mid nineties. None had any defaced markings and most were matching except bolts. All had well worn finishes.

Those are e/607 which is the correct acceptance for the original dou receiver. Too bad about the wear and such. It's an interesting piece and I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it.

In photo #2, the rear sight sleeve and parts are e/623 which is correct for the 2nd Steyr life of this receiver.

CAI did import a large number of K98k's back in the 90's along with well used Romanian VZ24's. The talk was the K98k's were from Romania, and/or Albania. The defaced ones were supposedly from Romania and the other, similar worn condition but not defaced supposedly from Albania. As I recall, there were also a number of Gew98m's that were equally well worn that were reportedly imported from Albania around the same time. I have never seen any definitive evidence on exactly were those rifles were imported from, or why some were defaced and others not unless they did come from more than one source.

That's the story as I recall it from the time. Mine from back then is not defaced, heavy finish wear and mostly matching,

This is a really interesting rifle. A G.24t scrapped at some point, receiver reused in 1944 in the Steyr SS contract. And matching original stock too - bands should be unnumbered/stamped. Anything else match?
I really thought someone would mention this. Pretty deep into the scrambling for receivers at this point I think.

I thought it was something with the lack of waffenamts and rune. Thats why I asked for the additional pics. I know some importers have faked the runes but this one didn't seem so. Glad to know OP has a great rifle.
