Post war?

Was given this one by my dad a few years back. He claimed a student sold it to him (back in the early 70's) off of a vet-bringback k98k that is now somewhere in Hawaii.
The more I dig into it, though, the more it seems like this is probably just a post-war civilian scope. Am I far off?

Pictured next to my M41B scope for reference.

Thanks in advance!

And quick follow up question, if you'll pardon my eagerness,,,,,

If this is indeed a post war civilian with limited value like I suspect, would I be excoriated and excommunicated for using it for a wreck of a Czech Mauser I'm rebuilding? (basically got a bucket of parts that once resembled a contract Vz24)

Wish I was going to SOS to see some real good Mauser and scope p0rn, but I suspect I'll be sitting here sucking down sinus and headache meds. Ugh.

Many thanks!

Now comes the dilemma of bursting my dad's bubble or not. Lol. He seems pretty happy that I have an intended use, so maybe I'll leave the urban legend alone in his case. ;)
