Pictures of G43 snipers are rare. But this is a reenactor, not a original war time photo. Here is a better example.

I thought that one looked too good. Also, I don't think I have ever seen Germans holding a rifle where they have trigger discipline like that. I could be wrong, but that kind of made me think it was fake.

That is correct. This is one of my favorite pictures because it has all my favorite snipers. A PU, couple K43s, and most likely a High Turret.

I find the G43 unwieldly to fire freehand /standing and impossible to carry one handed.

The magazine is exactly @ the balance point and one cannot get a good forward hold point without extending your forward hold past the mag which makes for an unsteady squeeze off.
