I think you did great for that price. It has a lot of really nice parts. The date coding under the buttplate is exactly what you’d expect to see. I’d leave that trigger guard alone too, rather than risk further damage.

Should be relatively easy to find the correct stock and worth spending the time on. Here’s a photo of the consecutive rifle to yours, it was sold as a Russian Capture years ago.

Well, it’s a Russian capture so totally mismatched. Yours should have milled and phosphated bands. When you find the right stock for it you may get the bands too.

Don't you mean stamped? Wouldn't blued or phosphated work?

Stamped would work too but most in this serial range are phosphated to be technically correct looking. Curiously most of the blued stamped bands are on the very last ones.
