I picked this beauty up to go with my AC43…exceptional both to my eyes but you folks are the most knowledgeable…both matching with a bit of holster wear and, before I’m smitten, I DID NOT do the ‘highlights’ and will judiciously try some isopropyl and a Q-tip to remove such.

Love the tooling/fly-cutter marks on this…

Same here. They are multiplying. I started with an AC42 and now I have recently added a nice byf43 rig and an AC41. I prefer Lugers, but P38s are a lot easier (and cheaper) to collect.

Whoa! Those are all nice! I don’t have much knowledge at all on the bayonets but I’ll bet they are considered great pieces in that part of the collecting world.

When cleaning off ‘white stuff’, q-tips but also round wooden toothpicks are especially good for cleaning out letters & numbers & leave no scratches. A toothbrush used on top of moistened patches are excellent for cleaning Waa stamps which are shallow but fine marks.
The P. 38 has many “modern” features such as the decocking mechanism ( I can’t remember them all now to list them) but truly a remarkable design. Mine is a P1 from the ‘60s w/the unreinforced alloy frame.
