Norwegian K98kF1 Questions and Value Estimate

Indeed. The bluing is decent on the action but the barrel is pretty much bare metal. They certainly cared for this rifle well. The bore is immaculate, can’t wait to see how accurate she is.

My stock is matching, and as far as I can tell, the rifle is original and matching with the original German numbers as well. I haven’t disassembled the bolt yet to verify, but everything else is matching.

It was up front listed as "heavily sanded", with an assumption that it was armory done. Can anyone tell me if this is typical of the "surrenders"? Wanting to know for future reference should one pop up ;)
 
Note: I nearly got burned on the trader in pursuit of an F1 so I was a little "gun shy" (lame haha) even through Simpson. Glad you got it and came here with it where I can check it out and learn something from the feedback.

The F1 I used to own wasn't sanded that I could tell, if it was it was very lightly done. It was evil to shoot though......a real shoulder thumper!

It would be very rare if it was all matching, even ignoring the fact that its been re-barreled so by default can't be all matching. The barrel bands and rear sight base are usually miss-matched on every F1 I've seen, including the 1940 147 F1 I used to own. As these were removed for the barrel change, and were not retained to each rifle, unlike the stocks, which you should find has had the German serial number added in pencil in the barrel channel by the Kongsberg workers.

my ar41 is all matching numbers except the sight ladder itself, which is an early steyr I believe. The sight base has the same waffenamps as the rest of the gun. Even the slider matches
