Norwegen Bolt

This bolt appears to be a Norwegen bolt. Would it still work with 8mm Mauser or do I need to worry if it was altered for 30-06? Did they change to bolt face for 30-06?

Nope, German bolt, unless stamps are fake. ( not obviously so). see the eagle w/swastika on the back of the bolt handle? that’s the firing proof. the two eagle 63 marks under the handle indicate the inspector’s office that accepted it.
if you were to compare SAAMI & CIP cartridge drawings for 8x57 and .30-06, you’d see that the bases of the two calibers are very close in size. sometimes the face of the bolt does require cutting due to corrosion, but this must be limited to preserve headspace.

Best to check the headspace with a set of go and no-go gauges. A stripped bolt should
close on the go gauge but not on the no-go. You can easily check the bore size with a bullet. If a 30 caliber bullet goes all the way into the muzzle then it's not a 30-06.

Thanks. I think you are right that it was of German manufacture. I said Norwegen, meaning captured by them and reserialized. I base that on the punch mark next to the serial number.
