Non-matching Stock effect price

I’d agree with all the above but the other way to think about it - and this is what cuts the value by half - is that there are many folks here myself included that would simply never consider a stock mismatch or bolt MM. I don’t mean that to sound arrogant and I respect that folks collect at different levels depending on what they can afford, but it drastically reduces the market (and therefor price) for these pieces. Something to consider since the day does come when u need to let go or want to upgrade.

The position from which I was speaking: About ten years ago I purchased a byf/43 from a fellow who advertised it as matching. When it arrived it was in a Kriegsmodell stock that looked unissued. I raised Cain…to no avail. A nice Forum member stepped up and offered me a sum, within $50, of what I paid for the package. I took it.
I then contacted either Mario or Tommy (can’t remember which but I think Tommy) for a stock to match the metal as close as possible. He sent me a stock, handguard, both bands, band spring and bayo lug all matching. The stock date is 2-42-42. I think it cost me about $150. I was pleased. All the parts except what I ordered match the number on the receiver.
I think I could sell it for more than I have in it, but I’m not interested. It was a fun project.
Sorry for borrowing the thread.
