Newbie Help with a DOT 1944

This is not a new gun to me I purchased it about 20 years ago. It has no importation marks. It is roughly 90-95 % original finish. The numbers match but it is a low serial #. It is 15XX no prefix or markings afterwards. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Without photos there's not much help to give.

also what help do you need? I dont see any questions, just more of a statement with no pictures lol.
