Saw this- http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=301064237

Bolt is a matching original bolt with serial number on receiver overstamped to match the bolt. I doubt the seller knows, but the rifle is bad. New collectors sometimes focus on the bolt so much they may forget to look at the receiver- this could have been put together with unnumbered bands and would probably fool someone.

Wow thats scary. Also insanely illegal. Good eyes farb, most guys wouldve missed the serial on the receiver.

I saw that one, and it fooled me at first glance! I thought he just got lucky with a matching (but not matching) bolt.

Pretty crude peening and overstamping job... So totally un-German. At least the seller admits that the receiver has been (force-) matched to the bolt and that the font size is off. But calling this an "original German stamped matching number" without providing any further proof for his claim is quite a stretch. Textbook example for "Caveat emptor! Buy the gun, not the story". What can I do to convince myself that this is not an original Cajun stamped matching number on the receiver? The stock made of "proper excellent laminated walnut(sic)" with its rounded edges and black painted recoil lug, take down disk and buttplate looks very R/C to me, and the number stamped into the wood in typical R/C fashion makes it even more suspect. And the dull reblued front bands and bayonet lug? From Moscow with love. The opening bid is in line with what you would pay for an R/C at Big5.

I've been watching this fellow's auctions for obvious reasons. Good catch Farb. I saw it and simply dismissed it based upon the other issues and missed that.

A five digit a block dot/swp is a fairly late rifle, as such, just the presence of a numbered safety should set off one's humper radar.
