If there is a problem with that bolt root, I am not seeing it.

I just wanted to see the sn on the bolt root more clearly. It looks different from all the K98k that I have and have seen but maybe this gun is just different. I'm looking forward to what mrfarb has to say.
Explain what you think is different. Looks good to me.
I Took the Vet Sniper out to shoot it...my best was a fist size group of 5 shots at 100 Meters just using iron sights;....My m1 garand sniper was much tighter...but its a rifle...so we're are comparing apples and oranges....and I was shooting 60 year old FN ammo with lots of duds...
It's very hard to discern what bolt is "good" and what bolts are "bad" if you have limited access to known original examples that you are comparing to. Steyr is one of the worst, sometimes using reclaimed bolts and some using just plain poorly made bolts. I can tell you this bolt is good just comparing it to other bnz rifles made in the same timeframe. Compared to bnz's of earlier or later manufacture it's not even similar, so for example you can't compare it to a bnz42 or even a bnz45- it'll be different.
Spotting good and bad bolts is a skill acquired over time and experience. Here are some photos of my bnz single claw (which Dave Roberts stole from me somehow), it's a d block too.
The only downside i see on whitehat's rifle is someone tried to remove the rear mount, you can see the idiot marks on the screw. Luckily they didn't get it off or the gun would be ruined!
A sniper pulled out of my backyard?!
Hope this wasn't the bnz advertised on Craigslist in Downey for $650 a couple weeks ago.![]()
