New member from NY, and second K98k

Hi all, my name's Paul and I'm from Long Island, NY. I'm joining this thread because a friend recommended me to do so, but also because I want to learn about "wut I got". I had recently bought my second K98k. I left a recent gun show with a DOT code (Waffenwerke Brunn, I believe) K98k from 1944. It's a mismatch but has mostly period-correct parts (and a supposedly rare hardwood stock with a cupped buttplate from 1940). I initially wanted an early K98k but having one from the later part of the war is quite intriguing, especially since its non-import marked. I'll share some pictures in this post. What can you guys tell me about DOT code rifles, what parts it should have, and what gear I can get with it?
Thanks!

That’s a later dot 1944 than you think, the “a” under the serial shows it’s part of the 2nd series of the 5 digit run and was probably assembled in 1945 actually. The bands, trigger guard and floor plate would be stamped and unnumbered, and the original stock would be what we call a semi Kriegsmodell. Check out the pic reference section and see some examples of these.

Great to know, thank you!

I was wondering what town lol. I grew up in Old Bethpage. We moved around a few times and lived in Levittown, Syosset, and the Manorville before I left home at 17 to join the Air Force. I retired in 2020 ending up in Missouri lol. I still go back time to time to see my family.

Oh ok cool, I live in Islip, plan on moving down the line as well lol! There are a lot of milsurps on the island oddly enough but not worth not having gun rights and no money in my pocket lol
