No, the buttplate is in the white. The flash made it look dark, and it does have more patina than the rest of the rifle. The sling adjustment and buttplate have more corrosion than the rest of the rifle. Since the buttplate is in the white that makes sense to me. The sling slide adjuster is likely of a lesser quality metal and bluing to begin with so that may have come into play.
The sling is not bad, but I am considering selling the sling that is on this rifle and looking for higher end sling before those disappear. All the faking going on in the Mauser world scares me though, and I know this old sling is real. I am very surprised at all the forgery going on in the mil-surp world. Since I am more of an Ar-15/Glock guy this is all new to me!
