BiO is correct about it being for a Gustloff. Really could only be '40 or '41 production. Quite surprised there isn't a 2 letter and number date code stamped under the butt plate. Is it stamped in the barrel channel by chance?

no; no numbers or letters visible in the barrel channel or behind the butt plate it was very dirty and a grey sticky substance and dark black around the edge and under and around the upper screw hole it was about a 1 inch heavy rust pitted spot. Also on the stock under the butt plate under the top screw hole is a small wooden wedge driven into the screw hole bottom like it was repaired for a stripped screw hole the wood wedge is about 5/16 in length about 1/8 wide and it remains a strong 1/16 proud above flush. Hope these details help.
