Need FG42 Sling Info/input

I am looking at putting together a sling for an SMG First Model FG42. Looking at pics of slings and pics on the original manuals, there is not a sling loop. I really want to put a sling loop on it. It would make for a neater package when the attached to the rifle. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.
 
Can anyone confirm if the attached image is a period image? The sling has a loop at the buttstock and a rivet on the muzzle end, rather than sewn together. It doesn’t seem like any of the other photos of slings that I have seen.
