These really fascinate me, and I’ve managed to snag a couple. If anyone else has any they want to share add them!

It started with this named and numbered cnx I posted a little while ago. It was a later one with simplified Oiler and kcy wire chain.

Then came this ab42, named to a Gren. Pabler. It also has a symbol next to the name, it is from the runic alphabet, it’s a d, or day. I am unsure of the meaning in this context but it’s clear the Germans knew the runes as they used various ones famously. This kit is a field overpaint, you can see the light green over the blue grey. The name is scratched through both layers. Kit has an eqt Oiler and unmarked chain of the right period.

This is the most recent. Beautifully named in off white paint just like helmets. 64 codes, waa20. Opposite side has the name again but incomplete in grey. All the parts matching 64 marked. Just a sweet kit inside and out.

Nice little group this far. Hopefully others have some to share

Here’s one, he did both sides. I have quite a few with random names and such.

Hello, this one arrived today.
I read ‘huber fritz’.
Multiple named behälters i’ve seen either from my own modest collection or on the internet.
Sometimes i doubt if it’s done wartime by the soldier who was issued the kit,
This one i also have doubts with.
No way of knowing but it’s some food for thoughts for me.
Anyways the kit is complete, i’m quite positive the components are original to the kit.B747054C-8E62-4CDB-A8A5-9A0DF090773F.jpegE7C4D411-0B67-48D8-800F-F3409FE8DB92.jpeg

Looks pretty good from what I can see. A German soldat etching his name on the tin is not unusual and found on other items considered "personal" like a M31 mess kit, canteen, name written on the inside of their utility belt, etc. IMHO, it looks period to me. This practice also occurred on Rg34s which saw service with various countries after WW2 as well...

Naming is pretty wide spread on German items. Just have to look. A list of personal equipment I’ve seen named would be too long. There’s paint, fabric labels, paper labels, pencil, etching, etc.

It’s the type of handwriting that puts me off,
Take mrfarb’s kit for excample, the ‘lettertype’ is what is most often seen by me and what seems to me is more normal handwriting for the time..!
Just my thoughts only

Bottom of the I and T in Frits and the Z to me still connect it with older stylized writing. I mean look aT helmets, it have be a child like initial, or the fanciest script type and everything in between.
I don’t think you can say it is for sure wartime, but you can’t say for sure it isn’t.

I had been looking for a tan kit with a name or some other type of extra marking.

Well I recently got this one. It has the name Skolo scratched into it twice. Once with a nice stylized S.
A web search of this name, shows it has lots of roots in South Africa. So it could someone who captured ir? Or it may have another lineage. Just a neat piece. It’s rco45 marked. Needs a chain and tool still but that’s ok.

Pictured with the rest of the tan kits.

Hello!

Absolutely crazy kits! Love them. Here's one I just got in, a CNX that has the owner's initials engraved in, it's not easy to see, I'll try to take pictures once it gets in the mail. Hope you don't mind me posting here.
