Thought I post a thread on my growing collection of this era. Have too say it has been a darn good year for me buying German Imperial era items have gotten alot of great deals. But with this collection I have built so far I have learned alot and have gotten alot of help from many members here.

Paul thank for you all of the research data you have provided me not too mention the help you have given me over these few years. Still can't believe you sold me a lid for my Kar98a carbine thank you again for that have never seen one for sale in person before. Now here's the big question should I keep adding to this growing collection!

Very cool. Always look to add or upgrade. That's what collecting is about.

I'll be honest never even thought I own Luger!

But being I collect alot of Erfurt/Erma made pieces I thought the pistol would be a nice touch. Personally I think the WW1 Lugers are underappreciated compared too their WW2 counterparts IMO.

I too think your collection is impressive; I especially like the Danzig/16 you got from DaveR, that was a nice rifle without any problems, something fairly hard to do these days. I have never owned a P08, though I have several other German designs, PP, P38 of course, but i think you really need a P08 for a collection. DWM doesn't get the credit it deserves, the company was the primary mover for all things we collect. Everyone focuses on Mauser, which is understandable, but DWM was at the center of it all (German development of the MG08, P08, G98 all owe a great deal to DWM, which ultimately is Ludwig Loewe AG, or their arms division, which Mauser was a part...)

Such a great collection at your age makes one wonder what you will achieve when you are an old fart...

Great collection! Those are really nice. Do you have any more photos of your P08? Erfurt Lugers are a personal favorite of mine.

Most impressive warrior!! Nice to have and bet they will all grow in value. Great having that P-08 too. I had an Erfurt 1916 many years back but some idiot reblued it. Still sold it for a decent profit. Thanks for sharing your collection.

Thanks for all the kind words guys happy too share these pieces with you. And like I said before I wasn't able too build this collection over night took years. Alot of members here have helped me over the years with it and have gotten me some great deals as well. My advise too the new collectors do your research, be patient, and make some good friends that enjoy the same collecting hobby as you do.

And Mauser1908 if you would like too see more pictures of the 1918 P.08 I'll post more up in separate thread.

I would like to see it, what serial number block is it? Would also be interested in seeing the maker of the holster, the condition looks exceptional. Around 175,00 were produced in 1918. The interesting thing is quality actually improved toward the end of 1918. I would recommend picking up "Imperial Lugers" by Jan C. Still. Since being in Alaska I've met three experts who contributed to the book. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from them. I would also be interested in seeing the sideplate acceptance, thanks in advance.

Very nice collection! Imperial era has a cachet to it that cannot be replaced and the P08 adds to it. Had a Danzig 1916 Gew98 that I stupidly let go back in the 80s, went up there to the Chicago area too. Wish I had it still but that's a song many of us know! 6877, found on a bike shop wall in Pennsylvania, where are you today, hope you found a good home.

Thanks for the kind words and you never know you may come across that rifle again someday.
